Serious Blogger Failings
I use Blogger for this site, provided by Google. There are many things about it that I like, as evidenced by the fact that I use it. But it also has some very stupid failings. It is the first time I have every used an editor that is systematically, although unintentionally, What-You-See-Is-NOT-What-You-Get. I generally post via e-mail, since that is the only way to get systematic results. If I use the provided editor, the fonts end up the wrong size, the paragraph spacing is always screwed up, and the spell-checker inserts random wrong codes. The page preview shows one version of the post, while the actual post is formatted differently. Sometimes, as in the post below, I can not correct it.
Google makes good profits on their advertising program, and I thank them for sharing those profits by providing free services, but those other services are not state-of-the-art, although their pricing is. They are fallible.
